Robert Martinelli Obituary
Robert G. "Bob" Martinelli,78, of Darien passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 15,2013 at Stamford Hospital. He was born in Stamford on July, 8, 1935, son of the late Wanda Perito Sciglimpaglia.
Bob was Manager of State Line Tire Company of Stamford for many years before his retirement and was a graduate of Stamford High School, Class of 1954. He served in the Army from 1955-1957 during Peacetime in Europe. He was a longtime avid fan of the NY Giants and Yankees. Bob will be remembered by his family and friends as a personable, upbeat, genuine and outgoing person who was committed to his family and loved by all.
Robert is survived by his loving wife Marian Ragonesi Martinelli of Darien, his loving children, Lori Bantle and her husband Bob of Cos Cob, Susan Whaley of R.I , Robert D. Martinelli of Darien and three grandchildren ,Morgan Whaley, Brooke and Kate Bantle.
Family and friends may call at The Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Friday, December 20, 2013 from 9:30 - 10:30 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. John's RC Church, 1986 Post Road, Darien at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, Darien

Dear Marion,
We have not seen each other since high school days. I remember like it was yesterday. Bobby was in some of my classes. He was a sweetheart of a guy. What a wonderful happening for the two of you, to get together and marry. Marion, we all had fun in those days. We are so very sorry for you and your family to lose Bob. Growing up in the automotive business my Dad did business with State Line Tire. I was young back then but I do remember Bob and he couldn`t have been nicer to me when I used to drop off cars for alignments or bought tires to bring back to the garage.

Bobby was as fine a person as you'd care to meet and we were very sad to hear of his passing. He was a kind, generous and thoughtful person. Our families go back a long way and the relationship between he and my father and his wife Marian and my mother is truly remarkable. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

It was with great sadness that I learned of Bobby's passing today. My dad and Bobby were the best of friends since their days as school boys in Stamford and my mom and Marian were the best of friends since their childhood. I will always cherish the memories of seeing the two of them at my parents yearly Christmas party. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Marian and her children and grandchildren. so sorry to hear of bob passing. my mom Edith Chiappetta Palmer who passed away in 2006 always talked about bob and we always got our tires from him he is always remembered.

Didn't drink,smoke,lie,worked hard,others came first,a true family man and saw the whole picture. Best guy I have ever met in Darien in 60 yrs.Bob was capable. My privilege Bob, to have known you.

I worked for Bobby and his Dad back in the Park Service Mobil days.Bob had a great sense of humor and anyone who I knew..who knew him..loved him.I have the best memories of those years and enjoyed every minute I spent with him.Deepest condolences to Marian and the kids and to everyone who knew him.Its a great loss to us all.

God Bless my dear cousin Bobby. My heart goes out to Marian and their children, especially at this time of the year. He was such a kind and gentle man, I was saddened to hear of his passing. I will always remember my beautiful Aunt Wanda and Bobby.
