News Death Notice

FRICIONI, Albert J. Age 74, of Beavercreek, passed away Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Brookdale Senior Living in Beavercreek. Al was born in Tarentum, Pennsylvania and called Pittsburgh his home for many years. He brought his family to Dayton in 1974 to work at the Lofino Superstore, just in time for the Xenia tornado to hit their house. For many years he was property manager for Good Samaritan Hospital, retiring in 2008, he enjoyed puttering in the kitchen, never quite able to duplicate the same recipe twice, he loved golfing with Sam, Angelo, and Nick. Al was a longtime member of The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, he was the only Italian to be President of the local "Greek" organization AHEPA and made hundreds of gyros sandwiches at the Greek Festival. He was a man of good humor, spiritual and kind-hearted who cherished his mother-in-law, loved to watch his wife dance and appreciated good friends. Al was preceded in death by his parents, Felix & Margaret Fricioni. He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Dessine; son, Stephen (Melissa); daughter, Jacqueline (Matthew) Kaiser; beloved granddaughters, Stephanie (Andy) Price, Dessine (Andrew) Ziehler, Eleni Kaiser; grandson, Sam Kaiser; step -grandson, John Ravana; great-grandchildren, Matthew & Zaharoula Ziehler; sisters, Angie (Robert) Lake, Vera DiCaro; nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Funeral service 11:00 AM Thursday, March 3, 2016 at The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 500 Belmonte Park North with Father Mark P. Emroll officiating. Interment Woodland Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Marker & Heller Funeral Home, North Main Street Chapel, 1706 North Main Street from 4-7 PM Wednesday with Trisagion prayers at 5:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church Memorial Fund in Al's memory.
