Carl Beers Obituary


News Death Notice

BEERS, Carl E. age 82, of Englewood, Ohio died Saturday at Grandview Hospital.  He was born Sept. 9, 1926 in Shippenville, PA, to Arthur L. Beers and Edith F. (Armstrong) Beers.  He attended a one room school for grades 1-8, graduated from Clarion High School in 1944, Pennsylvania State University in 1953 with a B.S. and Whittenberg University in 1963 with a Masters Degree.  He taught school in Western Pennsylvania for 7 years and retired from the Dayton Board of Education as an administrator after 28 years of service.   He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where he served as Director of Project Blessing.  In 1996, he received the JC Penny Golden Rule Award in recognition of his extensive volunteer service. He was also a member of the Englewood American Legion Post. A former member of the Ohio Social Studies Teachers Council, Dayton Math Teachers Council and S.W. Ohio Instructional  TV Association.  Preceding him in death were his wife of 44 years, Ann Lee Beers; 2 brothers, Donald and Arthur Beers; 2 sisters, Beulah (Beers) Best and Betty (Beers) Hagley.  Surviving are 3 children; Gregory Paul Beers, Sue Ellen Beers, and Eric John Beers; 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; sister, Vivian (Beers) Aaron. Friends may call at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 239 Wayne Ave. on Saturday from 10:00 AM until memorial services at 11:30 AM.  Pastor Robert E. Miller will officiate.  Burial Woodland Cemetery.  If so desired memorial contributions may be given to Project Blessing c/o St. Paul Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 763, Dayton, OH 45401.  Arrangements by George Miller at Schlientz & Moore Funeral Home, Dayton.
