Charles SANDERS Obituary

SANDERS, Charles W. Age 70, of Waynesville, passed away on his 45th wedding anniversary Sat. Dec. 23, 2017. Charles graduated from Clinton Massie High School in 1967 and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. He married A. Carolyn Reynolds Dec. 23, 1972 in Middletown. He also earned a Bachelor's Degree from Wilmington College. He retired from GM in 1998 after 30 years of service. He was a deacon at the Israel Baptist Missionary Church in Forest Park and was twice elected mayor of Waynesville. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Ida Sanders, stepmother Essie Sanders, and one brother Ronald Sanders. He is survived by his wife A. Carolyn and siblings Leroy Sanders, Marjorie (Russ) Oliver, Frederick (Pam) Sanders, William (Lucy) Sanders, Earl (Tina) Sanders, and Ruth Ann Rosser. An evening wake will be held 5-9 pm Fri., Jan. 6 at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home, Waynesville. The morning wake will be held 9:30-10:30 am Sat., Jan. 6 at the Israel Baptist Missionary Church in Forest Park, followed by the funeral service at 10:45 am. You both we're always such an inspiration to me when you visited Middle Run years ago and the times I have seen you at a church service!
