Family-Placed Obituary


LARUE, Darlene Sue (Barnhart) 45 of Jacksonville, FL and formerly of the Covington and West Milton areas, went to be with the Lord Sept. 5, 2004, after a 2 1/2 year battle with brain cancer. She was born June 29, 1959 in Troy. Her loving smile, caring heart and tender kindness was a blessing to all who knew her and she will be sorely missed. A devoted military wife of more than 24 years, she raised her family with loving care and devotion to duty. She attended Milton-Union High School where she was a member of the graduating class of 1977. Her hobbies included collecting cookbooks, cooking and reading. She also enjoyed palm trees, beaches, lighthouses and the ocean surf. She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Jeffery Scott LaRue of Covington; one son, Jeremy Scott LaRue of Covington; her parents, Harold and Ada Barnhart of West Milton; mother-in-law, Katherine "Kitty" Crowell of Covington; sisters and brothers-in-law, Janet and Bill Stott of Donnelsville and Karen and Carey Bartlett of Spring, Texas; sister-in-law, Michelle and Chris Graves of Greenville; nieces and nephews, Olivia Graves, Paul and Tiffany Stott and Casey and and C.J. Bartlett; Darlene's cat, "Cali"; and several aunts, uncles and many friends including Marla Null of Sebring, FL, Luz Bautista and Iris Pilkin of Jacksonville, FL. A memorial service will be held at 1p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25 at the Church of the Brethren, 918 S. Miami St. (St. Rt. 48), West Milton. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Community Hospice Foundation, 4266 Sunbeam Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32257.
