Hoyer; sons John (Jill) Hoyer of Xenia and Jerry (Donna) Hoyer of Washington Courthouse; sister Sherry (Alan) Partee of Wilberforce; special friend Jacque Trick of Vandalia; step-grandchildren Donald South and Michael (Jennifer) South; niece Karen (Bill) Aldrich of Waynesville; 6 step-nieces and nephews Dawn (Ted) Yantis, Alan (Amy) Partee Jr., James Partee, Austin Partee, Andre Partee, Ben Partee and a whole host of friends. He graduated from Beavercreek High School in 1956 where he played varsity football. He went to work for NCR, eventually leaving to start his own boat/motor sales/service business, Xenia Marine. He spent over 40 years in the boat business, most recently working for Dayton Boat Store. Don was an avid ballroom dancer, winning many awards in past years. He was currently Vice President of Dancetonians Dance Club. One of his high school football teammates saw him dancing and remarked that if Don had moved like that on the football field he wouldnt have gotten tackled so much. His other passion was fishing and he looked forward to his annual trip to a resort in Wisconsin. Don was honest and trusting, always believing everyone would do the right thing. His word and a handshake were as binding as any legal document. The family will receive friends at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton Xenia Rd, Beavercreek Chapel, 5:30-8:00PM, Thurs, 28 January 2010. Private graveside service will be at the convenience of the family. To send a special message to the family please www.NewcomerDayton.com.

We enjoyed getting to know Don through our dance lessons at Hara Arena. He was always so polite and friendly and willing to help you with dancing. He seemed to have a perpetual smile on his face and...you knew he was a good man. Prayers to his family...

I want to express my sadness at Don's passing, and my condolences to his family. Don and I worked together at the NCR many years ago. He was always easy to work with, had a great sense of humor, and was a good man.

My sympathy goes out to Don's family. I believe Don and his sister grew up in Beavercreek on Stansbury Dr. His sister and I were friends as I lived on Yalta Dr. That was many many years ago, but the memories remain. In deepest sympathy for your family's loss.
