Family-Placed Obituary

EDINGTON, Earl R. Jr., 68, of Springfield passed away Wednesday evening, June 30, 2004 at his home. He was born August 14, 1935 in Bainbridge, Ohio, the son of Earl R. Edington, Sr. and Edna (Price). He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. Earl retired from General Motors after thirty-three years service, a member of the Springfield High School Class of 1953, and a world class gardener. He was a member of the High Street Church of the Nazarene, a member of the Fabulous-Fiftys, and an Army Medical Corps Veteran. One of Earl's personal achievements, was building his own home. He loved to talk to everyone and knew no strangers. He is survived by his wife of forty-three years, Barbara E. (Boisel): his eldest son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Gayla Edington of Springfield and their children, Mikal, Joshua, Esther, Susanna, and James; his son, Steve Edington of Enon and his daughter, Cassandra; his daughter and son-in-law, Tina (Edington) and Doug Shearer of Wisconsin, and their children, Brandon, William, and Tommie; and his daughter, Tricia (Edington) Whitacre of Brookville, and her daughter, Alexandrea. Other survivors include his brothers and sisters-in-law, Darrell and Barbara Edington, Larry and Jeanetta, Doug and Connie Edington, all of Springfield; sisters-in-law, Erma (Olan) Edington, Mickie (Carlan) Edington; many nieces and nephews; and numerous other relatives, all of whom he loved. His parents; aunt, Gertrude; and two brothers, Olan and Carlan preceded him in death. A gathering of family and friends will be held in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME, SPRINGFIELD Friday from 5-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home Saturday at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor William E. Blain, Jr. officiating. Memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1130 Vester Avenue, Springfield, Ohio 45504. You may express condolences to the family at www.littletonandrue.com.
