News Death Notice

MCGEE, Sr., Edward P. age 80, of Dayton, passed away April 29, 2014. Born in Steubenville, OH and a resident of Dayton for 50+ years. He retired from the Dayton Board of Education after 32 years of service, where he worked as a Youth Employment & Work Training Supervisor. He was a member of the Wise Men Club. Preceded in death by his parents, Spanish and Perrie McGee; son, Edward P. McGee Jr.; brothers, James, Claude, Walter and Ralph McGee. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 58 years, Wilma McGee; sons, Kenneth, David (Beth), and Michael (Monica) McGee; daughter, Alicia (Troy) Stokes; brother, Fred (Cornell) McGee; sister, Margaret (Bob) Kline; 13 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; a host of other family and friends. Funeral service will be held 1 pm Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at the House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc., 2107 N. Gettysburg Ave. Rev. Matthew Monie officiating. Interment Woodland Cemetery. Visitation from 10 am-1 pm. Family will receive friends from 12-1 pm. The family wishes to thank all the staff at Arbors of Dayton and Hospice of Dayton for all the loving care he received. McGee brothers I'm remembering all wisdom and laughter we received from Mr.McGee. He was a really hard working man that would put you to work. Lol May God give you the comfort needed in this time of sorrow.

Mr. McGee was responsible for helping me and so many other young people getting jobs and training. He was one of the nicest and caring men I've ever known.

I always respected him and looked up to him. There was an aura about him of class and dignity. That was the man I knew and I extend my condolences and prayers in his passing.
