Flora Engelbrecht Obituary

ENGELBRECHT, Flora "Jane"

Flora Jane Engelbrecht, 80, of Springfield, passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2025. She was born on October 22, 1944, in Williamstown, Kentucky, the daughter of the late John S. and Margaret Holly (Webb) Juett. Jane graduated from Morehead State University and later earned her master's degree from Georgetown University in Kentucky. She went on to dedicate 37 years of her life teaching Home Economics and Early Childhood Development at Fairborn High School. Known affectionately as "Ms. E." or "Mom," she touched the lives of countless students. Her classroom was more than a place of learning-it was a place of encouragement, integrity, and care. Her students adored her for her selflessness, grace, kindness and strength. Beyond her career, Jane found her greatest joy in her family. She loved celebrating holidays surrounded by those she loved. Her children and grandchildren were the center of her world. Raising three daughters on her own, Jane instilled in them compassion, independence, and resilience. Jane's legacy to her daughters is one of strength and endless love. She is survived by her daughters: Crista (Andy) Mamer, Melissa Sullivan, and Amanda (Daniel) Grigsby; ten grandchildren she adored: Chase, Brennen, Drew, Casey, Kian, Xane, Andra-Lee, Xander, Xaden, and Reid; as well as many nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings: infant Frances Juett, Margaret Perry, Mary June Wood, Virginia Wobbe, and Sonny Juett; and her lifelong friend and the father of her children, Lewis Engelbrecht. Jane was a woman full of grace and love, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Littleton & Rue Funeral Home. A celebration of life reception will follow at The Landing at Littleton & Rue beginning at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Saint Jude Children's Hospital or your local humane society. Jane was my aunt and a year younger! We were WWII babies, and mother and I lived with Pawpaw and Nanny while Daddy was overseas. As infants we were more like sisters; nanny often making us matching dresses. My family left Kentucky around 1954 to live in Florida but we were together every summer and every Christmas. Our greatest adventure was when as a 21 one and 20 year old we headed to West Palm Beach to see my brother in her 442 Oldsmobile convertible! I wish we had spent more time together in our later years. We had often talked when I had family history questions but I had no idea how ill she was. How fortunate that she was surrounded by her three daughters and ten grandchildren who surrounded her with love.

Crista, Melissa, & Amanda,
I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. She was like a second mom to me growing up on Evergreen Drive. Hang on to all the memories. I have many, as well. Take care of each other. My prayers are with you
