Family-Placed Obituary

SIMMONDS, Florence (nee Gerstner) wife of the late Earl S. Simmonds; daughter of the late Harry and Emma Gerstner, sister of Harriet Leland, Dayton, OH and the late Charlotte Campbell, mother of Russ (Brenda) Simmonds of Plano, TX, Char (Christoph) Lichtenfeld, Chicago, IL and Kay (Allen) Bornemann, Cincinnati, OH; grandmother of Jennifer Bornemann and Matthew Bornemann, Audrey Benes, Heidi Kussurelis, Aaron, Nathan, Liza and David Lichtenfeld, great grandmother of five, died Monday, December 12, 2005 at home on the family farm near Miamitown at the age 89. She grew up in Dayton, Ohio and graduated from Steele High School and Ohio Wesleyan University. She married Earl Simmonds in 1941 and they celebrated their 64th anniversary in March of this year. She loved her children and was involved in PTA and 4-H throughout their childhood years. She loved flower gardening, music, and her kittens. For 60+ years she was an active member of the Miamitown Methodist Church and recently began attending the Crosby Methodist Church. Private burial is planned. Memorials may be given to the Shrine Hospital Burns Unit, 3229 Burnet Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45229 or charity of one's choice.
