Dear Family Members of Frank:

I learned last week of Frank's passing, and so I write to extend my deepest condolences to you, and to his many friends. Early in his legal career, Frank was an attorney with our law firm, Steptoe & Johnson, in Washington, D.C. I had the pleasure to work with him when he was here, and it was immediately apparent that Frank was a remarkably talented young lawyer and a special human being. He contributed significantly to the cases on which he worked, and strengthened the personal and professional camaraderie of our law firm. Frank left a lasting impression on us all. In addition to his many accomplishments, I cannot think of a finer tribute to any human being than that Frank made a difference in this world, and touched so many people with his his kindness and his determination. I, and those of us at Steptoe & Johnson that had the good fortune to know Frank, will miss him dearly but remember him always.

Sincerely,

Edward J. Krauland

I met Frank during his time as an attorney with the law firm of Steptoe & Johnson, here in Washington, DC. He was a bright, hard-working man with a great sense of humor and positive attitude toward life. He will truly be missed.

I remember Frank as a brother of the Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity at Wright State. I had been an advisor of the Chapter when I first met Frank. We had been working on a braille edition of the Fraternity's Constitution but I don't recall if we finished that project. Frank worked for Judge John Weld Peck of the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals when he lived in Cincinnati. My office is in the Federal Building right across the street from the U.S. Courthouse and I would sometimes meet Frank for lunch. I enjoyed his stories of some of the cases he was working on. He was a fine fellow. I enjoyed talking fraternity matters with him. He was a level-headed man and I will miss catching up with him. "The silver cord is loosed; the golden bowl is broken." In Phi, Kappa and Tau, we will meet again one day in Chapter Eternal.

I met Frank when we were students at Oak Creek Elementary. I recall that he had a great love for baseball. Although he wasn't able to run the bases, we still managed to find a way for him to join us on the playground diamond. Later, in junior high, I discovered that he had created an intricate fantasy baseball game based upon statistical analysis of past teams. Quite an accomplishment for a 14-year-old kid!
As Dave Baumann mentioned earlier in the guest book, many of us became reacquainted with Frank through our high school reunions and subsequent email activity. I'm glad to have had the opportunity to know him. I'm sorry I'll not be on hand to share memories with you this week, but I'll be thinking of you and of Frank nonetheless.

sincerely,

Although over thirty years have elapsed, I still recall Mr. Stilwell as one of my finest students. He overcame his disability with no apparent effort. I was pleased when he went on to Georgetown University's School of Law, as I had done my own undergraduate work at that institution. On behalf of the Wright State University faculty, I extend sincerest condolences to Frank's family at this moment of grief.

Dear Mr.and Mrs. Stilwell,

We were so sadden with the news of Frank's passing. What a super person he was. He inspired almost everone who knew him and he accomplished so much in life with his handicap that few could ever mimic. In elementary school he was my best friend and probably trusted me more then I deserved. He taught me a great deal about how to deal with my imperfections by just witnessing his successes. I pray that God has a special place for such a wonderful individual as Frank, and I pray for you and your family in this time of mourning. Frank will be missed! I am so greatful that got to know your amazing son.

Sincerely,
Joe Zwissler and Family

My condolences to Frank's loved ones,

I first met Frank in 7th grade at JFK Jr High School. I remember we elected him president of our class that year. He was such a likeable person. As the years went by, and I was in classes with him, my respect and admiration for him grew.
I last saw him at our 25th high school reunion in 2000. I had the pleasure to spend some time talking with him that night. Many times, since then, he shared e-mails on our high school e-group
He was truly one of the most remarkable people I have ever met in my life. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to have known him.

May you find comfort in the knowledge that he touched the lives of so many of us.

Sincerely,

Ruthann WD8BMK (Weaver) Stambaugh

Dear Stilwell Family,
We have lost a great friend in Frank, but so many happy memories of him remain. I will always remember a group of us canoeing and Frank and crew (myself included) fell into Hueston Lake, our hamfest adventures, and last but not least, his Anita Ward "Ring My Bell" imitation. Frank was a very passionate, inspiring person. Our prayers are with you during this time.

I remember Frank most from junior high. He was amazing. He had such a love for baseball. He had dreams and pursued them. He was such a role model for never quitting. Frank will be missed. I want to extend my condolences.
