News Death Notice

NETHERTON, Jr., Fred Age 81, of Butler Township and formerly of Northridge, passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2014. Fred was born July 1, 1933 in Cookeville, Tennessee to the late Fred Sr. & Mattie (Judd) Netherton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved son, Rick Netherton and sister, Alma W. Eldridge. Fred is survived by his loving wife of the past 59 years, Nina; his devoted daughter & son-in-law, Robyn & Larry Farmer; grandchildren, Kelly (Matt) Stahley, Heather (Chris) Day, Nathan (Tessin) Farmer, Madison Netherton and Cameron Netherton; great grandchildren, Jaisa Farmer, Dalton & Laney Day and Conner Stahley; his aunt, Maude Taylor; niece, Linda Ferguson; sister-in-law, Mary Carpenter; brother-in-law, Harold Eldridge; special friends, Otis Adair and Herman Farmer; and many other family members & friends. Fred was a member of the Northridge Church of Christ. He retired from General Motors after 33 years of service. He enjoyed gardening, annual trips to Branson, MO and spending time with his family. The family would like to extend a special "thank you" to everyone at The Hospice of Dayton for the care they provided to Fred. Your loving care & support will be fondly remembered. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday (7/14) at the GEORGE C. MARTIN FUNERAL HOME, Northridge Chapel, 5040 Frederick Pike at Needmore Road, Dayton. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens. The family will be receiving friends from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m., Sunday (7/13) at the Martin Funeral Home. Since Fred was given his roses while living, it is suggested that those wishing to honor his life do so by making contributions to The Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, Ohio 45420. Fred was such a sweet man. I spent a lot of time in the Netherton home with my Friend Robyn and he and Nina always treated me like a daughter. I will cherish those wonderful memories forever. Your entire family is my thoughts and prayers. Love you all.
