ANDERKIN, Geneva (Jeanette) 92 years young, of Washington Township, departed this life to be with her Heavenly Father and Lord on Wednesday, August 2. Geneva was born on May 30, 1914 in Williamsburg, KY, the daughter of George and Lillie Harrison. She was a resident of Dayton for over 50 years, with membership at the Fairview Baptist Church in Bellbrook, OH where she had many long-time friends. Geneva enjoyed nature, especially "her" birds and small animals that frequented her home, and had a great love of flowers and trees in the landscape She experienced a remarkable life, having been born during WWI and experiencing the Great Depression and Dust Bowl enroute to a 3 year residence in Los Angeles during the 1930's. Never afraid of a challenge, she returned to Tennessee and supported the war effort during WWll while working on the Manhattan Project at Oak Ridge during the 1940's. It was during this time that she married her husband, Renus, who then served in the European Theater of conflict after their marriage in 1940. After the war, she resided in Kingsport, TN and Big Stone Gap, VA and then moved to Dayton during the 1950's. She was spirited in her political views and would never shy away for a debate. Very independent until her final days and blessed with a keen memory and strong sense of independence she will be greatly missed by all. Geneva was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Renus Anderkin in 1996, beloved sons Jerry Taylor of Detroit, Michigan and William Taylor of Sandia Park, New Mexico Also preceding Geneva in death were her parents Lillie and George Harrison of Williamsburg, KY, sister Beulah Logan of Corbin, KY and brothers Paul Harrison of Monroe, Ml and Mack Harrison of Williamsburg, KY Sisters-in-law preceding her in her passing include Anne Anderkin, Louisville, KY, Viola Trammel, Danville, KY; Dolly Eades, Bement, IL and Odessa McConnell of Big Stone Gap, VA. Brothers-in-law preceding Geneva on her journey include Shelby Anderkin of Dayton; Elmer Anderkin of Louisville, Fred Trammel of Danville, KY and Les Eades of Illinois, Geneva is survived by her son, Michael Anderkin of Washington Township, OH, daughters-in-law Mary Demelis (Jerry) of Detroit, Ml and Marie Taylor (William) of Sandia Park, NM; sisters Pauline Perkins of Corbin, KY, Geneva Logan of Rockhold, KY and Sue BuhI of Dalton, GA; brothers Burlie Harrison of Spring City, TN and Eugene Harrison of Williamsburg, KY. Also surviving Geneva are brothers-in-law Bill Anderkin, Dayton, 10 grandchildren: Debbie, Betty Ann, Randy, Douglas, Theresa, Nicole, Sandra Kay, Danny, Billy and Debbie, 23 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren, in addition to numerous nieces and nephews residing from Michigan to Alabama. Special friends of Geneva include Paul and Jana Tillson and "Texas" grandson Kyle Tillson of Dallas, TX., Hans Holztrager of Centerville, the Ashers of West Carrollton and many others. Special thanks from the family to Dr. Jonathon Velasco and staff, Dr. Paul Brammer and staff, and Dr. Stephen Kleinhenz for their excellent medical care and understanding through the years. Funeral services 11 A.M. Monday, August 7, 2006 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3940 Kettering Blvd. Pastor Bill Anderkin officiating. Entombment Heritage Hills Memorial Gardens, Springboro. Visitation will be from 10-11 A.M . Monday prior to the service at the funeral home.
