News Death Notice

BLETZINGER, Irmgard Age 83 of Fairborn passed away Monday October 21, 2013 at the Hospice of Dayton. She was born to the late Hans and Margarete Heckmann in Dusseldorf Germany. She arrived in the United States on a scholarship. She moved to Mexico City where she taught German and Spanish at a private school. She met her husband Peter during a trip to Acapulco. They settled in Fairborn and raised four children. She became an Associate Professor in the Language Department at Central State University after her last child entered high school. She was the faculty advisor for the Central State Football team helping numerous players. She is survived by her husband Peter, four children and their spouses; Michael & Diane Bletzinger, Klaus-Peter Bletzinger & Pattie Matteis, Christine & Robert Cooper, and Eric & Tami Bletzinger as well as 10 grandchildren. Service will be held on Friday October 25, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at the Abiding Christ Lutheran Church, 326 E Dayton Yellow Springs Road, Fairborn OH 45324, Pastor Craig Fourman and Pastor Sue Nelson officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. Flowers may be sent to the church. Donations can be made to the Hospice of Dayton in Irmgard's name. I have such fond memories of German kindergarden with Ms. Bletzinger. I still remember many of the songs and stories she taught us. She was so kind and welcoming -- I always felt like I could talk to her about things. She made me feel like my sister and I were part of the family. She was so proud of all of her children. My heart goes out to all of the family. She will be greatly missed.

My heart is broken. Ms.B was my ohio mom. She MADE me the person I am today... She taught me the real importance of education and why getting my degree was priority #1.she took care of me like I was her own...my mom loved her call her my Angel..I will always love her and miss her ....thanks Ms.B you can rest now!!....thanks family for always treating me like family ...

To the Bletzinger Family
I had to privilege of being a colleague of Professor Bletzinger during out joint service at Central State University, Being closely affiliated with the athletic program at the time I am aware of and grateful for the tremendous influence she had on all CSU students, but particularly the members of the football team. Her nurture and support made possible their academic success which allowed their athletic succes and their eventual success in the real world with careers in education, business and numerous other fields. She will always be fondly remembered by many in the Central State Family.

My condolences to the family. Mrs Bletzinger was a professor of mine at CSU. She encouraged me to double major and study abroad because she saw something in my skills I couldn't see. I didn't take advantage, but there have been times I wondered what if I had.

She was a wonderful woman and educator. I enjoyed working with her. She always reminded me to give back and I helped her with the football study halls because of her strong suggestions. My prayers go out to the family.
