Cordell, James R. "Jim"

On Thursday, August 21, James "Jim" Cordell went home to be with the Lord after a long illness. Jim was born January 20, 1943 in Madison County, Ohio and raised on his parents' farm. Jim graduated from Fairbanks High School in Milford Center, and he retired after 40 years of work at International Harvester. He is preceded in death by his parents, Grant "Bud" and Anna Ruth Cordell, brothers Donald and Daniel, and sister Sandy. Jim leaves behind his beloved family including his wife, Joy, and children, Angela (Kenie) Tyree, Gregg (Judy) Cordell, Todd (Lanay) Cordell, and Gina (Doug) Stuckey, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jim was an active member of Maiden Lane Church of God in Springfield, Ohio, including Youth Ministry and Music Ministry (including the Men's Quartet and Choir.) He sang for 25 years in the Living Christmas Tree and was known for his solo, "Wise Men Still Follow Him Today." Jim loved photography, wood working, riding his bike, and the outdoors. Visitation will be Friday August 29 at 11:00 a.m. at Maiden Lane Church of God, 1201 Maiden Lane, with service following at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be at Ferncliff Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Jim's memory to Maiden Lane Church of God or Ohio's Hospice at 324 Wilmington Pike, Dayton, Ohio 45420.
