James Deuer Obituary


News Death Notice

DEUER, James Carl 81 passed away Saturday October 4, 2008 at Kettering Medical Center. He was born April 10, 1927 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Henry and Lidwina Deuer. He is also preceded in death by brother; Joseph F. Deuer and sisters; Mary Louise Glaser and Florence Weaver. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Jerri Deuer, a beloved brother Henry "Duke" Deuer along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and sister-in-law Lois Wick. Although James and Jerri had no children they had two loving and caring adopted grandsons Shane and Jimmy Arrington and their caring family. James also had a faithful friend Don Whipp who visited him faithfully each day of his illness. As well as a host of many other longtime friends. James was a wonderful and generous man who sponsored many community charitable events and a leader and fundraiser for the Hipple Cancer Research Lab. James was a member of the Kettering Ohio Rotary. James was a toolmaker by trade and co-founder with Brother Joseph, of Main Machining and Tool and Deuer Manufacturing Inc... James and Joseph were the inventors of the "mini mule come along" and spare tire hoist for the entire auto industry. James Deuer was a recognized industry leader, including the auto industry. James was a vice president and board member of Selas Corp. of America and board member of Teca. James will be missed by all. Family will accept friends from 5 p.m.- 8 p.m. Wednesday October 8, 2008 at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME FAR HILLS CHAPEL 5471 Far Hills Ave Dayton, Ohio 45429 and Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday October 9, 2008 at 10 a.m. at Church of the Incarnation 7415 Far Hills Ave Centerville, Ohio. My Dad, Lou Cooper, worked for Jim and Joe both at Deuer Mfg. and Main Machine & Tool. We lost Dad in 2004 and Mom in 2006 so we understand the pain you are going through. Our prayers are with you.
