Janet Buehner, 95, of Middletown, is now asleep in Jesus, Wednesday, July 30, 2025. She was born in Middletown on February 7, 1930 to parents, William and Carrie (Wysong) Slone. Janet earned her Master's degree in education and taught Third, Forth, and Seventh grades in Middletown Public Schools and Spring Valley Academy. Janet was a creative thinker, with a quick wit and clever sense of humor. These gifts made her a talented writer, entertaining storyteller, and gifted educator. She dabbled in many different artistic media including drawing, painting, sculpture, and fiber arts. She was devoted to her family in faith at the Middletown Seventh-day Adventist Church. She was a wonderful cook, a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her vegan potato salad will be greatly missed, but not as much as she will be. Janet is survived by her daughters, Andrea Gibbs & Jill Buehner; grandchildren, Rachel (Ryan Salmon) Shields, Jordan Shields, Kari (Bill Lemmons) Gibbs & Elizabeth (Ben) Brewer; great grandchildren, Isabel, William "Liam", Cecilia "Lia", Jack, Silas & Nolan; as well as many loving extended family & friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Buehner; brother, William Slone, Jr.; and sisters, Margie Slough & Ruth Ekegren. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at 12:00 noon at The Middletown Seventh-day Adventist Church, 4919 Central Ave., Middletown with Pastor Kari Gibbs officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the church. Interment will be at Butler County Memorial Park at the convenience of the family.
