Janet Jenkins was my music teacher at Waterloo. She worked with me to make me a better clarinetist even on her own time. Miss Jenkins found an opportunity for me to compete for a music clinic scholarship conducted at Ohio University. Through her tireless efforts on preparing me for the audition I did win this scholarship and was one of the youngest music clinic attendees. At the clinic in my woodwind tryouts I advanced to the Honor Band. I could not have obtained this musical level without Janet's devotion to her work.

I am saddened to hear of Jan’s passing. I remember her teaching at Clearcreek in my early years as a teacher at Springboro Jr. High. My daughter, Jennifer Blackburn at the time, was a student of Jan’s and was very fond of her. She was so kind. Rest In Peace, Jan.
