MILLS, Jeffery Calvin 61, of Springfield, passed away on Thursday morning, February 22, 2018 at Villa Springfield following several years of failing health. He was born in Springfield on October 11, 1956, the son of the late James A. Mills and Marilene (Barry) Valentine. Jeff was a 1975 graduate of Springfield North High School and had worked as an audio-visual engineer for the Salt River Project, Phoenix, Arizona. He was a devoted member of Maiden Lane Church of God. He is survived by his step-father, Jim (Julia) Valentine of Naples, Florida; a son, Joshua Ponsock of Scottsdale, Arizona; a sister, Marsha Saunders Bennett of Columbus; step-sisters, Luanne Valentine Brown and Chelsea Valentine Heilbronner; step-brother, Bryan Valentine; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. A service in celebration of Jeff's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Maiden Lane Church of God with Pastor Mark Martin officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
