Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and to also let the Shock Family know that we recently sent Care Packages to American troops in the war zones. Each box carried a dedication sheet that includes the name, service information and a photo of your loved one. We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals in the youth hockey community and beyond. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you strong.
Sincerely,

To the Shock family,
I lived in Green Springs on Morgan Street and was a few years ahead of Jeremy in School. I went into the Army and was in Iraq when he was there. Sadly, I am just now hearing of your profound loss. This life carries such heavy tolls. I cannot fathom the depth of the weight you must carry. I can only say , "I wish I would have been able to honor Jeremy sooner." Tomorrow when they raise the flag for reveille, I will hold that salute a little longer and shed no tears, but cherish the fact that the flag stills flies. In it's slow roll on the winds around the world, your son, your husband, your friend will be carried through out the ages.

I knew Jeremy while I was a Marine GySgt on recruiting duty. I truely felt that he would be an outstanding Marine Officer one day and was shocked to see his name and photo in the Tiffin Advertiser Tribune. I regret that I didn't keep in closer contact with Jeremy after recruit training. I was ultimately responsible to ensure Jeremy shipped to recruit training in order to earn the title of Marine. I enlisted many of his high school buddies who also served with great honor, courage and commitment. Jeremy is a great American that has given the ultimate sacrifice. I can't imagine the pain his family must feel. One of my four sons serves as a Marine and will deploy to Iraq in July "08. I wish I could go too; it is what it is...I'm too old they won't send me! If I could say or tell Lcpl. Jeremy Shock anything the only words I could muster up are SEMPER FIDELIS DEVILDOG!

To the Shock Family,
Although we have never met, I think of you often. I had an online friend – Marine mom who knew you Sherry. I have often remembered and prayed for your family. It seems that as I am online researching various stories about Marines, Jeremy’s name often pops up and I take that time to pray for you. One day, just by chance, I met someone who served with Jeremy. It was interesting since I was about 2000 miles from home and he was 1000 miles from home. Just by chance. I know how difficult this all is. The passing of time helps in some ways – but not really very much. Just know Jeremy’s sacrifice will always be remembered. We won’t let him ever be forgotten. As your family continues to sacrifice daily, we remember and thank you and will always keep you in our prayers.

My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I don't really know what to say right now, but I must say something. I met Jeremy in bootcamp. He was one the biggest guys in the platoon and I was the smallest. He used to always look out for me whenever some of the other guys wanted trouble. He was one the nicest big guys I ever met. He was a gentle giant. He stayed positive during the entire time at bootcamp and showed me pictures of his girlfriend, now wife as I understand. I know these words cannot fix anything, but I just had to say that he was something else. I remember one time, we had to clean the mold off the ceiling in the squadbay. While everyone else is having a fit looking for stuff to climb on, me and Shock just look at each other, and then he puts me on his shoulders. Needless to say we were done in record time. He was one of the smartest and hardest working recruits in the platoon. He used to kick himself in the head for getting 1 question wrong in a 100 question test. He was a great man, and an incredible Marine. Semper Fi, and thanks for your time.

Dear Shock Family
you have my deepest condolences in the loss of Jeremy. My Dear Friend, Corporal Mark Kidd was killed in action in January, and when Jeremy passed he sent me an email telling me all about him he said:
"I haven’t been on line for a couple days because I was out doing a mission and then we had a tragedy. I lost one of my junior Marines. Jeremy Shock. His wife still lives in Ohio. What a guy, he graduated with a BS in criminal justice and interned at Interpol in Washington DC last year. I have been hurt before by these guys dieing, this was my Marine and it is even more painful. He was just driving down the road and got hit by an IED. The Marine that was sitting with him in the hummer is now a double amputee.
I have been ready to cry ever since it happened and yet we aren’t even given the time to grieve. I hate telling my troops to keep going when I know that they want to do the same thing that I want to do. That being, to just have a moment for Shock. We can’t allow our emotion to control any aspect of our mission. Just keep going, that is the only thing that we can do. Block it out and keep going. The unit will be having a memorial service next week."
i was sad when i learned about Jeremy's death, but i never dreamed i would find myself mourning someone i loved because of this war. i am so sorry for your loss, Jeremy Shock was a hero and from what i heard a wonderful person. may god keep him in the palm of his hand, with Mark.

“Paid in Full”
In Honor of The War Against Terrorism’s Fallen and Injured Marines
Marines through and through, they paid the price
Six thousand miles away, we live the life
For which they paid with their blood, spirits and bodies
We will never forget what they paid in full
We hope and we pray that somehow their loved ones find comfort
In God, in the flag, in the memory of their loved ones’ bravery
They’re gone now but we see them still…proud, strong, willing
Covering each other’s backs… courageous, moving forward
What kind of love did they have for us to be willing
To give it all for the Black, White, Jew, Christian, Muslim?
We don’t comprehend but we honor you now and forever
You are Our Marines…some living…some not
Forever in our minds we will cherish your lives
Lives too short yet immortal they’ll be
Highest brotherhood of the few, the proud
They stand at attention, and we gaze with awe
Some know their names not, but our admiration for them
Flows limitless within us, between us
They sacrificed their limbs or their lives
Freedom still rings, a soft sound across the miles
It tolls slowly; all of creation takes note
Of the lives that were lost for people unknown
Out of sight but not lost; forever among us
The starched blues marching straight
Toward the place where we will meet them
Many years from now…how we loved them…
Well done beloved Brothers and Sisters…You’ve paid it in full
Always Faithful Marines, You Have Paid it in Full

To Jeremy's family and friends-
My family and I are praying for you and your family during this difficult time. We send our deepest empathy as we lost our Marine on 11/30/05 in Fallujah. We are comforted to know that our Marines are serving their country with such honor and bravery. We are so proud of our Marines and all of our other service men and women for all that they have done and continue to do to keep us safe and to give us the freedom we have that so many take for granted.
They are true Heroes and need to always be remembered for their selflessness and sacrifice to better our world. We will forever be united in the loss of our heros. We are so sorry for your loss and hope our words will ease some of the pain, and maybe fill some of your emptiness.

To the Family of Lance Cpl. Jeremy S. Shock:
I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.
