Hi
I just got to know about his demise. I worked with him in 2008 and 2009. I remember him as caring and super nice person. He was the best person I ever met and he was a father figure.
May he live in peace and harmony.

With the loss of a friend, I have found the last eight words of the first verse of "TAPS" a comfort. "all is well, safely rest, GOD is nigh."

I first met Jay 35+ years ago when we were both assigned to the F-16 System Program Office at WPAFB, working for the legendary Gen. Jim Abrahamson. Jay was a young officer and I was a young civilian. We quickly determined that we were from the same class--1957--Jay from West Point and me from Annapolis. We enjoyed that connection and camaraderie over the years. Jay and I have been friends and colleagues over the years, most recently my regular visits to the Pub and the Liberty Film Festival and sharing our Irish roots. Jay was truly an officer and a gentleman and will be missed. I will be thinking of Jay this Saturday when the Army-Navy game is on. He will be smiling down on us from the "big pub in the sky" with is glass of red wine in his hand, probably saying "Beat Navy"!??

We are still in shock at this sudden loss of one of Dayton's finest. Our love and prayers go out to the entire family. Maxine, we adopted you & Jay as family a long time ago and we're here for you. We are going to miss Jay and cherish the many wonderful memories of him enjoying life. We just had dinner with him the Sunday before his surgery and gave him a big hug before we said "see you later". Later will just be a little longer now.

Jay was what many aspire to be, but, very rarely ever meet the mark. He excelled in everything he did, and was respected and admired. A friend, a man of honor, a man of wisdom, service above self, a man who cared and made a real difference...and I will miss him.

To all of Jay's family. Though we have been coming to the pub for several years, we just met Jay this summer. After five minutes on the patio with him, we decided to take the trip to Ireland in October. We are so glad that we were able to spend that time with him. We are both deeply saddened by his passing! For no longer than we knew him, we know that we can count him as a true friend. Please know that you are all in our prayers.

I first met Jay because he was such a great friend of my Dad, Bob Van Vliet. Jay was so very sadden and compassionate to our family when Bob passed a decade ago. Our paths have crossed numerous times professionally in the aerospace technology arena and at the Pub. I will greatly miss his love for people and adventure. My prayers our with Jay and his family.

Dear Steve,
Please accept our sincere condolences for the sudden loss of your dear father.
We can only imagine what a shock it must be to you and your family.
It was only two weeks ago at the Pub that Jay and Maxine were telling us about his upcoming surgery, and he seemed so confident that everything would go well.
We know what a difficult loss this will be for you in particular. Not only will you miss your cherished father but also a trusted business partner and advisor.
We can only imagine the depth of the void that it will leave in your personal, family, and business life.
Jay was a great person, he was also a gifted storyteller with an amazing sense of humor. In short, your father was an exceptional colleague who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Warm regards,
Allen & Scarlett Ellis

Maxine and family,
I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. Jay was a great guy to work for in ODOD. We also had a lot of fun, and I'll always remember him drinking coffee out of that crazed, well-worn Air Force mug from his test pilot days.
Love and Peace,

When you're down, everyone needs a place where everyone knows your name, and Jay Tieber made the Dublin Pub that special place for me. He always made me feel welcome and treated me like family! I'll miss his hugs, the kiss on the cheek and watching him mingle with other guests while holding his glass of red wine. I'm actually crying right now as I'm writing this... Oh Jay, I miss you already! You weren't just a good man...You were a GREAT man.
