News Death Notice

BARKER, Kenneth E. age 87 of Dayton, Ohio died July 31, 2013. Ken was born in Bellevue, OH on February 7, 1926 to the late Eros and Elsie Barker. He was preceded in death by his sister Marguerite (Barker) White. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Janet (Williamson) Barker; daughter Cynthia (William) Seifert; sons Scott (Carol) Barker; Kent Barker; grandchildren Derek Seifert, Claire Seifert; and sister Martha (Barker) Kennerdell. Ken is also survived by many in-laws, out-laws, nieces and nephews, devoted friends and extended family. He served in the United States Navy before attending Bowling Green State University where he was a member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity. Following graduation in 1950, Ken taught at Madeira High School and coached football before moving to Dayton, Ohio. He then joined Traveler's Insurance Company and eventually established Barker and Barker Insurance Agency in Centerville, OH. Ken enjoyed his memberships at Sugar Valley Country Club since 1978, the local Power Squadron chapter, AMBUCs, and the Independent Insurance Agent's Association of Dayton. Ken loved to travel, was an avid golfer, sailor, and truly enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He will be greatly missed. A memorial service to celebrate Ken's life will be Saturday August 3, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Central Presbyterian Church, 4699 Lamme Rd., Miami Twp., OH 45439 with Rev. Cliff Haddox officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Hospice of Dayton or the charity of your choice. Arrangements Sanner Funeral Home, West Carrollton.

Always will remember the great times we spent at Herrington Lake in Kentucky with our good friends. Ken was a real party guy and always good for some real laughs. Will miss him and his sense of Humor. May God bless you in this time of your grieving.

I have fond memories of being at your home with you(Jan)and Ken! Probably the best one was when we toilet papered your house and you came home and caught us and then invited all of us rowdies into your home for beverages!! Please accept my deepest condolences!
