Dearest Jan & Family,
Just to let you know my thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of such deep sorrow. I truly wish I could be there with you, but my health won't let me make the trip.
My heart knows what you're going through, and how hard it's going to be for you and your family. If you ever need someone to talk to, you can call me, any time.
I'll try to write or call you soon. But until then, stay strong.
I love and miss all of you very much.

My first memory of Larry Verlin is when I was 14 years old. Larry David and I were sleeping on the living room floor of Larry V. and Jan’s house. Larry V. had come home in the early hours of the morning and of course had to get Larry D. up to visit, making lots of noise. I was warned about Larry V. but that first introduction was nothing like what I was supposedly prepared for.
On the next visit, after Larry D. and I were married, I got to know how hilarious Larry V. could be. Whenever he disappeared we knew he was up to something. One evening he came out of the bedroom wearing shorts, a grass skirt, and Jennifer’s bathing suit top and went dancing around the house. Another evening he scared me to death as I was playing some computer game. He came up beside me with a gorilla (or old man???) mask on and asked me for a kiss. Larry V. was having a good time if everyone else was having a good time; he wanted to make everyone feel good. Larry Verlin’s charming presence was indescribable.
The last time he visited us at our home in Georgia, Larry V. spent the whole weekend putting bumper stickers and posters on the ceiling of Larry David’s garage. He probably had a kinked neck for a week!!
One time when Larry V. called us, I was in the bathtub, so the next time he called and I answered the phone he said, “Hi babe are ya nekked?” So, when we would call him, the first thing I would tell him is that I was “nekked in the tub”. Larry V. loved to tease anyone and he had a huge sense of humor. He could always make any situation humorous.
I won’t for get the way Larry V. would say “tars” for tires, that his hero was John Wayne, that he was crazy about Rhett Butler and Scarlett O’Hara and that he was proud of his family and loved his children so very much. I will miss him dearly.

To Larry's family, my condolences. I worked with Larry on 406/407 cranes. My memories of him are when he was usually mad, but also sitting in the lunchroom and having a big laugh over what he was mad about. Everyone would imitate him! But we all had to respect him. I will miss you , Larry.
