PENICK, Marion S. age 82 of Dayton passed away Thursday, April 7, 2005 at Patriot Ridge Nursing Home. He was preceded in death by his parents, John & Mary Penick, his wife of 51 years, Mattie Penick, and one brother James Penick. He is survived by 4 sons & daughters-in-law, John Penick of Riverside, OH, Mark & Christine Penick of Dayton, OH, Daniel & Lynn Penick of Wichita, KS, and Timothy & Billie Penick of Beaverton, MI; 2 daughters & son-in-law, Robin & Timothy Hamann of Coleman, MI, and Rebecca Sweetman of Dayton; one sister, Nancy Draughn of Carleton, MI; and one brother & sister-in-law, Walter & Carol Penick of Vandalia, OH; 16 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Marion was a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII in the Philippines. He graduated from the Missouri School of the Mines with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. He was employed at W.P.A.F.B. as a civil engineer and was registered as a professional engineer in 7 states and as a professional surveyor in 3 states. Marion was a Past District Governor of Rotary International, and a Paul Harris Fellow. He was a charter member of Beavercreek Rotary and he and his wife Mattie were land donors and instrumental in the development of what is now Rotary Park in Beavercreek. Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon, Monday, April 11, 2005 at Tobias Funeral Home - Beavercreek Chapel, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, with Rev. Terrell Hudson, officiating. Interment Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4-8 PM on Sunday. In lieu of flowers, Contributions in Marion's memory may be made to Rotary International, One Rotary Center, 1560 Sherman Ave., Evanston, IL 60201, or to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45420.
