Nancy Burdge Obituary


News Death Notice

BURDGE, Nancy L. (nee Gabbard) age 81, former resident of Middletown, Germantown and Franklin, died Friday May 30, 2008 at Liberty Retirement Community, Middletown. She was always known as Nancy, but her birth name was Nannie Lovell Gabbard. She was born July 22, 1926 in Lexington, KY. Her parents, Clayton and Leoma (nee Anderson) Gabbard, were residents of Ohio, but Leoma returned to her childhood home in Lexington to give birth to Nancy. Nancy graduated from Germantown High School in 1945. She was married July 27, 1946 to Owen Dale Burdge in Rockingham Co. NC. Nancy worked for many years at Rexall House of Drugs in Franklin and later as a manager with Laynecrest Bowling Center also in Franklin. She served as a Cub scout Den mother and also as the local Welcome Wagon Hostess. After most of her children reached adulthood, Nancy attended college and in 1971, received her LPN license. She served as a nurse for several years in the cardiac intensive care unit at Kettering Memorial Hospital before her retirement in 1987. She is survived by 3 sons; Lawrence "Larry" Dale Burdge (Jeanne), of Baldwin GA: Ronald "Ron" Lee Burdge (Linda) of Washington Township, OH; Michael "Mick" Joseph Burdge (Anne) of Kettering; and 2 daughters Kathy Jo Jennings, of Fairborn; and Robin Ann Robinson (Eddie) of Franklin; one brother Louis Gabbard (Donna) of Kettering and Helen Thomas, of Centerville; 15 grandchildren 10 great grandchildren. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Clayton in 1956 and Leoma in 1985; and a sister Mary Frye (Ed) in 2001. Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday June 3, 2008 at the Arpp & Root Funeral Home 29 N. Main St. Germantown, OH. The family will receive friends 10:00 a.m. till time of service Tuesday at the funeral home (1 hr. prior). Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, or the charity of ones choice. On line condolences may be sent to the family at www.arpprootfh.com.

I know Nancy was welcomed into God's Kingdom by Mom and Dad. Rejoice in the fact that she is now whole and perfect. We'll miss her infectuous smile but as long as we remember her, she'll never be gone.
