Family-Placed Obituary

SHAW, Reta M. Age 75 of Xenia, departed this life with her family and went to be with the Lord unexpectedly at Miami Valley Hospital on Sunday, April. 18, 2004. Reta was born April 24, 1928 in Georgetown., Ohio. She graduated from Georgetown High School and attended Wright State University. Reta worked at Greene Memorial Hospital and retired from KSH Inc. in Xenia, Ohio. She was a member of the First Church of Christ in Xenia. Reta was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley A. and Ola Hopkins; granddaughter, Corissa Shaw; brother, Stanley L. Hopkins; sister, Nita Jennings; brothers-in-law, Harold Jennings and Ray Howser. Surviving are her Husband of 51 years, Donald W. Shaw; daughter, Gail E. (Dave) Yates; son, Don A. (Cynthia) Shaw; sister, Irma Howser; grandchildren, Amber, Alyssa, and Daniel Yates, Teresa Wendling, Renee (Joseph) Ackerman; great grandchildren, Stefanie Williams, Wyatt, Chad and Nathan Ackerman; brother-in-law, Stanley E. (Nancy) Shaw; and several nieces and nephews. Private family viewing. Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. in Woodlawn Cemetery, Bowersville, Ohio. Rev. Pete Creamer will officiate. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 2, 2004 at the First Church of Christ, 441 Ledbetter Road, Xenia, Ohio 45385. Arrangements entrusted to Newcomer- Farley Funeral Home, Kettering Chapel. In lieu of flowers, contribution may be given to the First Church of Christ or to the charity of your choice.
