Joyce, Carson, Cassidy, and Connor,
We are greatly saddened by the loss of Bob. He was a wonderful husband, father, and friend. Bob was so easy going, caring, and always willing to help.
We looked forward each year to spend the 4th with Bob and your family. We will never forget the year Bob had the Flyer delivered to the cottage. The whole gang watched as delivery truck arrived. We were all excited to try out the new water toy. He has given us many memories and will be missed dearly.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Your "extended family",

Dearest Joyce, Carson, Cassidy and Connor.
We received a phone call from Bob's mom informing us of Bob's passing, we are at a loss for words, Dennis and I are heartbroken, the boys are devastated. We are so saddend by this news, please know you are all in our thoughts, prayers and hearts.
When we moved to Shannon Glen our biggest worry was, What would the neighbors be like? Would they like having three wild boys running around? Little did we know we would soon have four boys as Carson became Peter's instant best friend!! And the boys still have their cheese head hats!!
We were truly blessed meeting you.
We know you are surrounded by love and kindness, we will hold you all tight, and we are sure Bob will bless you and watch over you all from heaven. God Bless, Audrey, Dennis, Matt, Tommy and Peter Gropp.

Thank you to Bob for being part of this. Bob was always a great friend to enjoy life, always trying something new, and to have a good laugh. All will be missed.

We are your old neighbors from long-ago Shannon Glen. We just found today about Bob's passing. Joyce, we are so saddended by your and the children's loss. Yet even as the tears flow down my face, I am also smiling and laughing at the fond memories of those early Shannon Glen years. To Diane, Mike and Family and
To Joyce, Carson, Cassidy and Connor,
Bob was a dear friend to me all throughout high school, he and his family played a large part into shaping me into the person I am today and helping to lead me to the life I live, it saddens my heart to hear of your tragic loss. Even though it has been 15 years since I last seen Bob and Joyce at Lake’s HS reunion, I will never forget the feeling of great joy to see him glowing in happiness of his life and expecting wife. Bob was so excited to be happily married and to soon take the role of fatherhood.
May God bless you all through your days of mourning. May you find comfort in God’s love and his Angels above. Robert James Cook, a Son, a Husband, a Father and Friend to many now sits before the throne of our Heavenly Father to intercede and whisper our prayers to Him forever. May his soul rest in peace as you share your memories with each other.
Angel of God,
my guardian dear,
To whom God's love
commits me here,
Ever this day,
be at my side,
To light and guard,
Rule and guide.
Amen.

Although we have only met in passing at a Soccer Tournament, we feel like we know you through our mutual friends, The Herringtons. We are shocked and saddened by Bob's passing and our thoughts and prayers are with you. Through all of the stories we have heard, we know what a great man Bob was and know that he led a blessed life. In all of the pictures The Herringtons have shared with us of your various vacations together, we remember Bob's smile was always beaming. You could tell how proud he was of his family. Take comfort in your memories and embrace the time you were able to share in his life with him. You were truly loved and brought him great happiness. He will forever be smiling down on you with Pride. God Bless You!

Joyce, Carson, Cassidy & Connor,
I really don't know what to say. We've built up so many wonderful memories with you guys over the years. We're all just devastated.
Of course I've known Bob ever since he and Doug started hanging around together (I must've been about 6 I guess?). As Doug's little brother, I always wanted to hang around with the big kids, but most times they weren't too interested in having me tagging along. But Bob was always the exception. I always looked forward to Bob coming over since he was so cool to me.
Over the years the little brother relationship evolved into a genuine friendship, and we had so many great times skiing, riding, laughing and just hanging out. I already miss him so very much.
We'll be there tomorrow.

Joyce, Carson, Cassidy & Connor,
You will never understand the reason why God took you husband and father from you, but, someone once told us something that helped us get through a difficult time and we hope it helps you too.
"People are put on this earth in order to be all that they can be and accomplish all of Gods work. We live our lives trying to achieve that. Those that are taken prematurely from our lives, just have reached their goals quicker to move on to eternal happiness".
I know it may not seem of comfort just yet, but perhaps someday it will. Please let us know if there is ANYTHING that we can do to help during this difficult time.
With love & peace,
Tracy, Ryan, Connor & Ian Murray

Dear Mrs. Cook and Family,
I went to high school with Bob. I have been praying (and crying) for you and your family since I heard the news from another high school friend last Saturday. Bob was a good friend in high school. My heart truly breaks for you and your children. My husband, children and I were up the coast vacationing in Virginia Beach the same week. The thoughts of what you went through are terrifying.
I have talked to several high school friends since the tragedy. Although we all have lost touch over the years, we are truly heartbroken. We will miss Bob. We will toast to a true hero at our next reunion.

To the Cook family,
I did not know Bob. Our families were staying in the two homes across from the beach last week. My niece and her boyfriend were on the beach and watched helplessly...praying as the rescue crew searched for him. We have been vacationing in the Outer Banks for over 20 years, and this is just the sort of tragedy that plays out in the back of our minds. The ocean can be so beautiful, yet so unforgiving. I can only imagine the terror, the disbelief, the grief you must have experienced that evening, and the long and difficult drive home to Ohio must have been sheer torture. Please know that although we are strangers, our hearts go out to you. Everyone in our party is praying for your family as you say goodbye to Bob. May God give you all the strength to go on and to honor the memory of this selfless man who gave his own life to save his child.
With our most sincere sympathy,

To My Dearest Cousin,
There are no words in my vocabulary to express the true feelings of loss and sadness I have for you, your children, and our entire family. Bob was simply an unbelievable man. I remember I was very young when I first met Bob, and I remember thinking how big he was. But, as I grew to know him more, I realized his personality, his attitude, and his heart were even bigger than he was, and I truly looked up to him for these attributes. He was great man, and after reading the entries here, it is obvious he has touched many others in the same way. He will be missed by all of us.

It is with deepest sadness that we write this note. Bob grew up with our family as we went on many vacations together and we always considered Bob as part of our family. From when Bob was a young boy riding motorcycles and snowmobiles to our latest 4th of July outing, he, along with Joyce and the kids, always had a special place in our hearts. Bob never spoke a harsh word and loved his family dearly and was always there to help. We are still in shock over what happened and our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
We lost a good friend and wonderful person, but God gained an Angel.
Your extended Family,
Scott Reed

Dear Cook Family,
My family grieves for your tragic loss. I cannot fathom what your family is going through but please know that all of your Springboro family is here for you and the kids.
When we heard the news on Saturday during the youth coaches clinic it was evident how many life’s Bob touched.
My two kids have been fortunate enough to have you as their teacher Joyce, they both are shaken by your loss, we pray for you and the kids.
I will miss glancing from my backyard seeing Bob playing with the boys, working in the yard or washing a vehicle reminding me that I needed to do the same.
If ever you or the kids need anything at all don't hesitate to call on your neighbors that surround you.

Carson and Family--
I was deeply saddened to hear of your loss. I was fortunate to be Carson's 7th grade teacher and blessed to watch Carson mature into a wonderful young man--the kind of child any father would be proud of...

Carson and family--
I am saddened to hear of your loss. You are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. I enjoyed so much being Carson's teacher in 7th grade and have been blessed to watch him grow into a thoughtful young man--the kind of person any father would be proud of. Though it is so unfair to lose someone too soon, I know what a strong and wonderful family you are. Together you can do anything. Love and Prayers-- Jennifer Beachler and family

Joyce,
We are so sorry and sad for your family. Though many years have passed, we remember all of the fun times on the ski slopes or just laughing with family and friends. May wonderful memories like these and others fill your heart. Please let us know if we can help in any way.

Joyce,
Although I had never met your husband and you and I have only been friends for a short while, I do know that when you would speak of your family only kind and loving words were used.
You and your children will be in my prayers.

I had the privilege of knowing Bob for such a short period of time through LexisNexis. He will be greatly missed as a friend and co-worker. He was a great, wonderful, caring person who treasured his family. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. May the love of your family and friends carry you through your grief. Rest In Peace, Bob.

In this time of sorrow, my prayers go out to your entire family. A father making the ulimate sacrifice in order to save his children is an honorable, admirable and courageous act, which showed the level of dedication he had to your family. As the father of a four year old, I would proudly do the same for my son.
Many condolences,
