News Death Notice

EVANS, Robert U. age 83 of Phillipsburg, passed away on Monday, December 7, 2009. Bob retired from the Northmont City Schools as a teacher for many years. He had also served on the Village of Phillipsburg Council for 8 years and as the Mayor for 16 years. Bob was a member of the Ohio Mayors Association and was a Civil Deputy for the Montgomery County Sheriffs Department. He was a lifetime member and former commander of the V.F.W. Post #8211 in West Milton. He was the District 3 Commander for the V.F.W. and the chairman of the Voice of Democracy Scholarship Program. Additionally, Bob was a member of the Greenview Calvary Tabernacle Church and was a veteran of WWII having proudly served in the U.S. Navy. His greatest achievement was being a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by the love of his life of 57 years: Okalee Jeanette (Burke) Evans, sons and daughters-in-law: Jeffrey and Lynn Evans of West Milton, Thomas and Kelly Evans of Union, daughter: Lori Jayne Evans of Clayton, sisters and brother-in-law: Betty Hendrickson of CA, Bonnie and George Lewber of Oakwood, 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: William P. and Orpha (Wombold) Evans and brother: Frank Evans. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 10, 2009 at the Kindred Funeral Home (400 Union Blvd., Englewood) with Dr. Timothy Livingston officiating. Interment will follow the service at Royal Oak Memorial Gardens in Brookville. The family will receive friends on Wednesday (Today), from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. and from 11:00 a.m. until time of services on Thursday. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Cancer Association. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.KindredFuneralHome.com

To the Evans family sorry for the lost of Mr. Evans I meet him when Lori came to the Riverbend home had many talks with him we also joke about Bob Evans restrauant name after him which I left working with Lori but still keep in touch with her at times. Jeanette what can I say but I am so sorry. You are in my prayers and heart, but I can see Bob telling his jokes and making his toast with his drink in his hand, or turn his hat sideways and jump in the air and kick his heels together. He will be missed.

Our prayers, and thoughts are with the Evan's family during this loss of Robert Evans. God's speed to each and every one of you, and may you find comfort knowing that so many family, friends and loved ones are sharing this great loss with you knowing the pain, emptiness each is encountering.
