Bob was one of my best high school band and Key Club buddies in the SHS CLASS OF 1965.
I recently visited his grave in Arlington while in DC. I appreciate his service, love of country and high school friendship. It was my honor to call him friend. Richard Leverette, Columbia, SC

My friend and fraternity brother enjoyed the best days of our lives in the F-4 Phantom. He is now in peace and we will miss him greatly. We were added to the Sigma Pi front page back in the 80s as the only crew that flew the F-4 as fraternity brothers from the 89TFS, WPAFB, OH. He was a brilliant pilot and an even more compassionate crew mate. Col (ret) Chris Mears

My friend Bob Shaw and I enjoyed our SHS MILITARY Band Of Red days from 1961-1965 challenging each other for First Chair in the cornet/ trumpet section. In fact our Band Director Mr Smith and Assoc Mr McMath solved our continuous friendly challenge by dividing our section into CORNETS and TRUMPETS In short we both became FIRST CHAIR.We then planned to room together if we could at the US AIR FORCE ACADEMY should we be lucky enough to win an appointment. We were both Runner ups. He went to Purdue, I went to the University Of SC. So glad we were reunited at one of our Band reunion picnics after 40 years. He will forever be in the heart of his 70 year old friend. My sincere condolences. Prayers will continue. Am so sorry for your loss. It appears there was a shortage of great gentlemen who could play a great trumpet and who also could really fly planes. Richard Leverette Class of 1965
