Roger Dartt Obituary

News Death Notice

DARTT, Roger R. 70, passed away peacefully on Jan. 9, 2011 at VITAS Hospice in Dayton with his family at his bedside. Roger was born in Hartford, Conn., on July 23, 1940 to Donald and Doralys Dartt. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Paul, who lost his life in Vietnam. Roger is survived by his wife Monika Dartt, and his stepdaughter Darlene Ewing Ross, and stepson Forrest Ewing and his wife Tonia; his five grandchildren Blaine, Shane, Forrest Michael, David and Tristan. Roger leaves behind four sisters; Ruth Blunt and her husband Alan of Austin, TX; Donna Cole and husband CJ of Hinsdale, NH; Janet Curran and her fiancé Joseph Guliuzza of Milford, Conn.; Kathleen Macie and her husband Ron of Vernon, VT. Roger proudly served 7 years in the Navy and 14 years in the Army, which included a tour of duty in Vietnam. Roger loved spending time with his family and spoil his grandchildren. Roger also liked to travel. One of his favorite places was Lucerne, Switzerland. He enjoyed photography, bird watching and gardening. Roger never passed up a good book or a game of Uno. His humorous nature brought us much laughter and happiness. Roger was a co-owner of a construction business for building and renovating homes. He later decided to attend machinist school where he graduated with top honors. He will be dearly missed and never forgotten. A memorial service will be held in Brattleboro, VT, at a later date for family and friends. Many thanks to the VITAS Hospice Staff for the loving care they provided to Roger. Also a special thank you to Jessica Owens, who took wonderful care of Roger for the past two years.

We willl never forget Roger. He was a God send when Howard was in the hospital over the holidays in 1966 and Howard couldn't move. He brought him a back scrather to reach his feet when they itched. Roger was dealing with his own tragedy. May all of you enjoy all the wonderful memories of Roger. God bless you all.
