Ruth Precker Obituary


Family-Placed Obituary

PRECKER, Ruth Paster 80, of Englewood, died peacefully October 9, 2005 of cancer. She was born July 11, 1925, in New York City and settled in Dayton in 1953. She graduated from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, N.Y., and retired after a long career as a dietitian and purchasing agent at Good Samaritan Hospital. She remained active in the community as a volunteer and docent, and taught English to new immigrants. She was preceded in death by her parents, Meyer and Bella Paster; siblings George, Flory and Dora; her husband, Bernard Precker; and her cherished companion in later life, Harold Silverman. Survived by her daughter, Natalie Precker Windsor, of Los Angeles, Calif.; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Ruthie Precker, of Richardson, Tex.; grandchildren Nadav, Daniel, and Shoshana; and many relatives and dear friends. She was a member of Beth Abraham Synagogue, Hadassah, the League of Women Voters and the Miami Valley Folk Dancers. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 11, at 11 a.m. at the Beth Abraham Cemetery Chapel, 1817 W. Schantz Ave. Rabbi Bernard Barsky officiating. Please make memorial donations to Beth Abraham Synagogue, Hospice of Dayton or your favorite charity. Mom was swell, and she'll really be missed. I want you to know that Ruth will be missed by all who knew her. She was a kind and sweet lady. It was a privilege to have known her through the years in our community. I hope that you her family, find comfort in her memories and from your loved ones.

Ruth was a loving, kind and generous woman. I knew her through the Miami Valley Folk Dance Group. May God hold her close to Himself.
