I was going to mail Steve a clipping from the wall Street Journal about the son of the founder of L.M. Berry, a company where Steve worked many years ago and when I Googled his name to find his mailing address, I was shocked to finds his obituary. Steve was one of my best friends during our college years and I would always stop by and see him when I visited the Dayton area from my home in the San Francisco bay area. We shared a common bond in that both of our fathers died when we were fairly young.
I remember vividly riding with him in his many sports and muscle cars including a red MGB convertible and a blue 1968 427 cubic inch tri power Corvette convertible. After getting his MBA, Steve worked for a couple of corporations, including Mead Paper, but never seemed comfortable with the bureaucracy and slow pace of fairly large corporations. On one trip he showed me some beautiful homes he built as a general contractor. Until it took a toll on his knees, Steve was an excellent tennis player.
I will miss Steve and regret not touching bases with him for the last few years. he was a good and unique guy.
