I have to say when I was given the news about Mr. Mertens passing away my heart hurt, tears rolled down my face and I couldn't speak. I enjoyed his phone calls and talking to him. He always had good spirits and would give me a chuckle during our conversations. When he revisited my hometown, he would make it a point to come see me and give me the most gentle and kind hug. Thank you Mr. Mertens for being a part of my life and please know that I Love you.

My memories of Tom can be described as the kindest gentleman. I never really knew what he did for a living until I read his obituary, and now I am even more impressed. My parents always enjoyed when Tom & Lorraine visited.

I am so sorry to hear of Tom’s passing. He was a wonderful person. He helped me for many years with landscaping in my yard.
I will always remember him with fondness.
Sincerely
Dawn Clemens
