Today, I was wondering what happened to my dear friend Velvet and wanted to find her, to call and catch up. It´s been a long time. I was very surprised to see the obituary and I don´t think many in Texas know that Velvet had been sick or passed away. I worked with Velvet in Conroe ISD, I knew Laura because we lived in the same subdivision, and my son was a good friend of Bryan`s in high school. Velvet was smart, exceptional in everything she did, and had many, many friends. When our subdivision flooded in 1994, Velvet was the first person at my house to help and offered for my daughter and I to stay with her until the water receded from our home. I will always be grateful to Velvet for her kindness, her generosity, her friendship, and her excellence in helping children with disabilities and their families to have a better life. Rest in peace, Velvet. You earned it .

I was so sad to hear that Velvet had passed away. I was proud to be her friend for over 70 years. When she returned to Ohio from Texas, it was amazing how easy it was to pick up our friendship. I enjoyed her sense of humor and her love of friends and family. She will truly be missed by all who were privileged to know her. Rest in peace, my friend.

Oh my heart hurts. Velvet was one of THE most beautiful people in our Colonel White class (of '65) and one who was kind to me and a friend. Her life was well-lived; and her death is a blow to the heart. May you, her family, know that she was loved and admired. May her memory be for a blessing.
