Colonel Wade M. Jackson

News Death Notice

JACKSON, Colonel Wade M., USMC (Ret.) age 92 passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2008. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn (nee Evelyn Westover Byrd); three children: daughter Sterling Johnston, and sons, Wade M. Jackson, Jr. and Kent T. (Marybeth) Jackson; 3 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was a member of the Kettering First Baptist Church, the National Right to Life Committee, and numerous other civic and political organizations. Col. Jackson had a BA Degree at William Jewell College, an MBA Degree at Marquette University, and completed several graduate level courses in Military Science and Business Administration. Col Jackson was in the Marine Corps where he served in World War II and in Korea. He was awarded 14 decorations and medals. After retiring from the Marine Corps, Col Jackson's civilian career included executive assignments with Allis-Chalmers, the Bank of Milwaukee and Trust, and Bendix Corporation. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm graveside on Monday, September 29, 2008 at the Dayton National Cemetery.
