Grace LeSueur Obituary

Grace Virginia Gray LeSueur BRISTOL, Va. Grace Virginia Gray LeSueur, age 104, passed away Monday, Jan. 24, 2011, at The Grand Court. Born in the Bethel community, of Washington County, Va., she was the daughter of the late James Felix Duff Gray and Margaret Melissa Caldwell Gray. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Baber LeSueur; one sister, Margaret Katherine (Kate) Gray Campbell; two brothers, John McConkey Gray and Oscar Lee Gray; and her son-in-law, George S. Woodall. Grace received her teaching certificate from Radford State Teachers College (now Radford University). She began her teaching career at Parks Creek School located east of Green Springs Road in Washington County, where she taught grades one through four. She returned to Radford State Teachers College for further education and later taught at Wallace School and Buffalo Pond School. She taught fourth grade at Wallace School for several years and retired in 1967 after devoting 40 years of service to her profession. She was a member of The Rural Friendship Club and the Washington County Retired Teachers Association. Survivors include her son, Frank Gray LeSueur and wife, Cheryl Hunsucker LeSueur, of Bristol Virginia; her daughter, Sandra LeSueur Woodall of Midlothian, Va.; three grandsons, George Anthony Woodall, Timothy Gray Woodall and Michael LeSueur Woodall, all of Richmond, Va.; nieces, Margaret Campbell McIntyre and Nancy Campbell Morefield of Abingdon, Va.; and several other nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express its appreciation to all of Grace's wonderful and dedicated caregivers. The graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 28, 2011, at Knollkreg Memorial Park, Abingdon with the Rev. Keith McGrew officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, at Akard Funeral Home. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to The Goodson-Kinderhook Volunteer Fire Department, 19864 Benhams Road, Bristol, VA 24202; or to one's favorite charity.
