William Carl Winey April 18, 1939 - August 18, 2018 William Carl Winey was born the son of Calvin and Irene Welch Winey, April 18, 1939, at Denison, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at the First Baptist Church in Denison. He was raised in Denison and later graduated from the Denison High School. On May 3, 1959 William married his love Bonnie Grell at the First Presbyterian Church in Vail, Iowa. They were blessed with two daughters, Carmen and Crystal and 59 loving years of marriage. Most of his life, Bill farmed, raising and showing livestock. You could also see horses on his farm place that he prided in seeing his daughters show. His dogs were a big part of his life also and he loved them dearly. He and Bonnie enjoyed going to Classic Car Shows together and also visiting the State Fair. They started up their own vending business which is where Bill acquired the nickname "The Candy Man". He worked the sales for their vending business and they traveled all of western Iowa. Bill was also proud to say he helped with the building of the new sanctuary to the United Methodist Church in Denison. He loved spending time with his family and relished the times spent with his grandchildren. He was a member of the New Life Christian Fellowship Assembly of God Church in Denison. William passed away August 18, 2018 at the Denison Care Center surrounded by his family. He had attained the age of 79 years, 3 months and 30 days. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Calvin Winey Jr. Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Bonnie Winey of Denison, Iowa; daughters: Carmen and husband Ronald Hoffmann of Calhoun, Missouri and Crystal and husband Steven Holt of Denison, Iowa; grandchildren: Jacob and Jane Hoffmann, Calvin Snitker and Angel, Autumn, Aubree and Harmony Holt; other relatives and friends. Memorial services were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, August 24, 2018, at New Life Christian Fellowship Church, Denison, Iowa with Pastor Rick Torres officiating. Music for the service included songs "Jesus Loves Me", "Amazing Grace" and "I'll Fly Away" with Claudia Rhiner accompanying on the violin, guitar and piano and leading in the singing. Honorary Pallbearers were Jacob and Jane Hoffmann, Calvin Snitker, and Angel, Autumn, Aubree and Harmony Holt. Inurnment was at Oakland Cemetery in Denison. The Pauley Jones Pfannebecker Funeral Home, Denison, Iowa, was in charge of arrangements.
