Anna May Case

Anna May Case, 79 of Kennett Square, passed peacefully surrounded by her devoted husband of 60 years, Jerry Lee Case and her adoring family at Christiana Hospital on September 19, 2015.

Anna May was a graduate of Cedar Falls High School (Iowa) in 1954 where she met the love of her life and soulmate, Jerry, and attended Iowa State Teachers College majoring in art. She was a gifted artist and produced many portraits in charcoal, water color and oil for family and friends over the years.

Passionate about antiques since the 1960's, Anna May was heavily involved in the doll collecting world, first as a notable author featured several times in Antique Doll Collector magazine, and a prolific creator and speaker of interactive slideshows about the varied and historic doll genre where she was an established expert in the field. She shared these enormous talents in the Boardroom as well, and served in leadership positions as the former President of the Letticia Penn Doll Club, former President of the Delaware Doll and Toy Collectors Club, the former Regional Director for the United Federation of Doll Clubs of America (UFDC) and as a member of the Doll Collectors of America. A Life Member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and a firm believer in historic preservation, Anna May served faithfully as a former Board member of the Kennett Township Historical Commission and as a former Board member of the Delaware Society for the Preservation of Antiquities supporting the historic Hale-Byrnes House.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Jerry Lee Case, MD, daughter Vickie Lynn Hearn of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, son Brad Alan Case, MD, of Grand Junction, CO, son Michael Scott Case of Norwalk, CT, son Steven Lee Case, MD, of Eden, NC, son Mark Edward Case, MD, of Wilmington, DE, son Christopher John Case of Port Saint Lucie, FL, daughter Mary Heather DiPasquale of Danville, PA, daughter Jennie Louisa Queen of Landenberg, PA, son Patrick William Case of Lady Lake, FL, seventeen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Friends of Anna May and Jerry are invited to call on Friday, October 2nd, at the Chandler Funeral Home and Crematory, 7230 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin, DE 19707, from 12 PM to 2PM, followed by a Service of Remembrance from 2PM to 3PM at the same location. Her family cordially invites all to join them for a celebration of Anna May's life to be held at the Kennett Square Golf and Country Club immediately following at 100 East Locust Lane, Kennett Square, PA 19348, from 3:30PM to 5:30PM. Light hors d'oeuvres and refreshments will be served. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Anna May's honor be made to the Brain Injury Association of Delaware, P.O. Dear Dr. Case & Family,
I met Anna during the loss of some of her treasured doll collection. She was a positive, friendly, loving, and forgiving person. She spoke of all of you in such a loving way. Grieve for a time and then move along as I'm sure that would be her final wish for all of you. If we leave a testament behind it's one of love and adoration. Anna left a remarkable one for all of her family and friends. She's now at 'Rainbow Bridge' waiting with all of the dolls we all love so much.

I well remember one of the most memorable family gatherings I can recall. Anna May honored Jerry on his 60th birthday. She made it so special, I can never forget it. It was a most loving gift she gave him, and I know he can take comfort, in how much she loved and appreciated him during their lifetime together.
My most sincere condolences to my friend Jerry and the entire family.

I am so very sad to hear about my dear friend Anna May. We shared many tears and laughed often. Doctor Case you meant the world to her and she loved you very much. She loved each of her children and grandchildren. Family was her dearest possession and closest to her heart.

I was so blessed to have gotten to know her, she was one of the most talented and interesting ladies I have ever met. It was a blessing for me to care for her in the past. We prayed oft at meals and when I departed. When I would forget to pray, she would be certain to remind me. She always knew when something was weighing heavily on my mind as though I were one of her children. Then we would talk, and cry and pray and laugh. We were there for each other and she provided me wisdom to handle life's challenges that I faced.

I will miss her greatly and will continue to hold the Case family in my prayers. GOD's comfort and peace as you face the days ahead.

I've only had the privilege to know Anna May these past few years through our doll club, Letitia Penn. She was always Kind, generous, funny, and the first to step in with advice and help for me. I will miss you Anna May, you were a light that was so strong, I'm sure you are still shining strong now with Our Lord. I only wish I would have had the opportunity to know you longer.
