Benjamin JANKOWSKI Obituary

Benjamin A. Jankowski Age 87 of East Champlain Avenue, Wilmington, DE, died Saturday, September 27, 2003 in the VA Hospital in Elsmere. Mr. Jankowski worked as a painter for the New Castle County Maintenance Department retiring in 1978. He proudly served our country in the Army during WWII, serving in both Europe and Africa. He received 2 Purple Hearts and various other combat medals for his service. He was a parishioner of St. Mary's Church. He enjoyed fishing, was a Phillies and Eagles fan and loved spending time with his grandchildren who he loved dearly and affectionately knew him as "Pop-Pop Ben". He is survived by his loving wife, Mary; his daughter, Geraldine B. Duffy and her husband, John P. of Freehold, NJ, Marlene A. Horgan and her husband, William R. of Wilmington and his grandchildren, John, Kevin, Karen, Carla and Melissa. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, 6th & Pine Sts., Wilmington on Thursday morning October 2 at 11 am. Friends may call at the DOHERTY FUNERAL HOME, 1900 Delaware Ave., Wilmington, on Thursday morning from 9:30-10:30 am. The interment will be in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Mary's Church, c/o St. Patrick's Church, 1414 King Street, Wilmington, DE 19801. www.dohertyfh.com (302) 652-6811
