Carla Recce Obituary
Wilmington, DE - Carla M Recce, 61 of Wilmington DE, passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2017.
Carla spent over two years bravely fighting a rare and aggressive form of breast cancer and left us peacefully with her two sons, Ryan and Sean, sister in-law, Kirsten and beloved dog, Simon by her side in the comforts of her own home.
Carla was born to Charles and Irene Gentkowski of Wilmington where she grew up and later raised her family. Carla was very active and passionate in the antique scene and proudly opened and ran Opera House Antiques and Victorian Style Tea Room in Historic New Castle for several years in the late 90s. She later worked as a curator for Rockwood Museum and moved on to work as a program coordinator for the New Castle County government.
In addition to her parents, Carla was predeceased by her uncle, Joseph Wilson and sister, Karen Lawton.
Carla is survived by her two sons, Ryan and Sean along with her daughter in law, Angel, grandson, Alexander and her brother, Greg Gentkowski.
Visitation will be held at St. Helena's Church, 602 Philadelphia Pike, Bellefonte on Thursday, December 21 from 10-11 am. A Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Carla may be made to Vitas Healthcare, 100 Commerce Dr., # 302, Newark, DE 19713.

For years I have made angels for friends in Delaware and even after I moved to Missouri, around Christmas time I have continued to send angels back to the First State. Carla was one of the special people who received one every year, but since she's been gone, I no longer make one for her. The thing is though, that she herself is an angel now and I know she is watching over me. I miss her still and always will.

Ryan, Sean and family, I'm almost without words, but I do want you to know just how much your mother meant to me. I wish I could be with you tomorrow at her life celebration, but since we are now living in St. Louis, the trip, at such short notice, would be difficult. I loved and respected Carla as a co-worker with NCCo, but she was also a joy to know as a person who was always upbeat, smiling, and even laughing. I will miss her very much but I realize that she is no longer suffering. May the Lord be with you as you go through this difficult time in your lives.

Dear Recce Family,
My deepest condolences for the loss of Carla who was such a great person. I had the privilege to meet Carla through the Hockessin Adult Community Center where I teach adult fitness classes.
Carla was a pleasure to work with and she always kept her enthusiasm and dedication. She was very supportive and I will always remember our conversations and interactions. She was an example of kindness to everyone.
I am sure that you will have the best memories of Carla that will last you forever.
