Clarence Bennett Obituary
AGE: 79 • Wilmington
Departed this life July 8, 2016. Beloved husband of Patricia "Pat" for 49 years; father of Courtney & Christopher (Melissa); son of the late Grant Bennett, Grace & Eugene Carr; son-in-law of Lozelle DeLuz, PhD. and the late Anthony DeLuz. Retiring after 32 years of service as a Compliance Analyst, Federal Office of Personnel Management, Washington, DC, he and the family relocated to Wilmington. In 1994, he was appointed in the Justice of the Peace Courts, New Castle County and remained a judge until health challenges caused him to retire in his second term. Clarence enjoyed being of service to his community. Also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, god-children, legacies, a host of other family and friends. Funeral 11AM, Fri. July 15th, Ezion Mount Carmel UMC, 800 N. Walnut St., Wilmington, DE 19801; viewing 9-10:45am only. Burial, Delaware Veterans Cemetery. A family visitation, 5-6:30pm, Thurs. July 14th, Ezion Mt-Carmel UMC; Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. service at 6:30pm.

My condolences are extended to the family of Judge Bennett. I worked with him for a short period of time at J.P. Court #13 many years ago. I was impressed with the combination of his wisdom, kindness and the wonderful way in which he cared for others. He was a true gentleman and an outstanding judge. May you rest in peace Judge Bennett.

Another wonderful man has gone on to rest with our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ. I worked with Judge Bennett at JP Court several years ago, and what a good time we had. He would always listen or instruct with true sincerity and compassion. He was fair and honest, a true gentleman to the position he held. He will be greatly missed but may he rest at peace with the Lord until we meet again

Judge Bennett and I served together as civil judges. He was thoughtful and conscientious, worked hard, and took an interest in everything and everyone he met. I will always remember him as unfailingly polite to all, a warm and generous man.
