Daniel Myron Linn, 65, died on Monday, Aug. 3, 2015, from complications of Multiple Sclerosis. He was a resident on Woman Lake near Hackensack, MN. Dan was born and raised in Rippey, Iowa. A farmer's son, he knew at an early age that he wanted to be a scientist. Dan received his BS in Bacteriology from Iowa State in 1972, his MS in Microbiology from Virginia Tech in 1975 and his Ph.D. in Soil Microbiology in 1982 from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

In 1983, he met an intriguing young woman who would soon become his wife. In 1984 Dan began work with the DuPont Company in Wilmington, Delaware. For the next 17 years he worked for the Crop Protection Products Business, spending his time between work, coaching soccer and attending swim meets.

In 2011, Dan and his wife moved to their native Midwest to begin their next chapter. Dan's philosophy was pretty simple: work hard, don't complain and love family. We will miss you dear husband, dad, son, brother and uncle.

Daniel is survived by his wife of almost 30 years, Valeria; children, Scott Linn of Kennett Square, PA, Sarah (Ray) Gallardo of Round Rock, TX, John Linn of Newark, DE, and Leslie Linn of New Castle, DE; grandchildren Mat, Lila, Ray, Logan and Ben; mother, Kathleen Linn of Rippey, IA; sisters Peggy Poretta of Rippey, IA, Rebecca Linn of Dana, IA; and a host of nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by father Myron Linn and nephew Jason Whelchel.
