Delores "Dee" Mae Kyler Whildin

Claymont - Delores "Dee" Mae Kyler Whildin, 82 of Claymont, Delaware passed away peacefully on May 1st, 2021.

Born in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania on January 18, 1939, Dee was the oldest of ten siblings. A local advocate for the community and environment, she made so many changes to improve the future of Claymont. Beginning her career working with Sunoco Oil, she retired from Boeing as a security officer. One of her favorite stories to tell included the details of being the first woman ever to drive the brand new Boeing fire truck. After retirement, Dee's duty continued throughout her life when she volunteered with the local police and emergency services.

Dee was a very creative woman throughout her life. Bringing arts and crafts to the local community through a variety of mediums including the Claymont Christmas Parade with "The Claymont Christmas Weed", how to classes, and other neighborhood events. She will always be remembered for her creativeness and was proud of having a crochet pattern nationally published.

Dee is survived by her daughter, Brenda Powell; her granddaughter, Amber Otteni; her siblings, Walter Kyler, Connie White, Benjamin Kyler; and beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her husband, Frank Whildin; and her son, Bruce Whildin; and siblings, Nellie Ramiriez, Linda Barlow, and Richard Mooney.
