Donald Hawthorne Obituary
Wilmington -
Donald Clayton Hawthorne, age 65, of Wilmington, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 19, 2021.
Donald was born in Wilmington, son of the late Dorothy (Rogers) and Clayton Vernon Hawthorne. He received his Associates Degree in Criminal Justice from Delaware Technical Community College and went on to have a career as a Professional Land Surveyor and another career as a machinist at Edlon. In his free time, he loved to spend time with his family, fish with his Bass Fishing Club buddies, tend to his tomato and gourd garden and spend every waking hour with his two Pugs, Marley and Ollie. In addition to his parents, Donald was predeceased by his daughter, Kendall Elizabeth Hawthorne.
Donald is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Linda Hawthorne; sons, Tyler Fritz Hawthorne and Trevor Clay Hawthorne; grandson, Carson Lee Hawthorne; brother, Barry Hawthorne (Luz); sister, Candace Cochran; a host of nieces and nephews; and his loving in-laws.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at the Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Rd, Wilmington, DE 19808, where friends and family may call from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM followed by a Celebration of Donald's Life at 11:30 AM. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Donald's name to the Delaware Valley Pug Rescue, P.O. Box 861, Avondale, PA 19311.

So sorry to hear this sad news. I grew up with Donald and knew mom and pop's, Barry and Candy quite well as a kid. I cherish the memories of my youth, many of which were spent in Donald's home, on 4th street, as well as ferris street.i send my sympathies to all
