Donald Barnes Robertson

AGE: 82 • Virginia Beach

Donald Barnes Robertson, 82, of Virginia Beach, formerly of Delmar, died Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at Lake Taylor Transitional Care Hospital in Norfolk.

Born December 1, 1933 in Salisbury, he was the son of the Vernon Gray Robertson and Myra Lloyd Robertson.

He was a US Army veteran. For many years he made his home in Wilmington, Delaware where he was a sales representative for Hercules-Ashland Chemical. While in Wilmington, he was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. After his retirement, he and his wife moved to Fenwick Island where they lived for five years, then moving to Virginia Beach where they have resided for the last five years.

He is survived by his wife, Louise Johannsen Robertson; a son, Troy D. Robertson and wife Patricia of Virginia Beach; two grandsons, Taylor Robertson and Jacob Robertson, both of Virginia Beach; a sister, Mildred Moody of Raleigh, North Carolina; a sister-in-law, Barbara Robertson of Salisbury; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Robertson and two sisters, Jane Lewis and Elizabeth Covington. .

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 1:00PM at the Zeller Funeral Home in East New Market where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Rev. David Kreek will officiate. Interment will follow in East New Market Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 70, Secretary MD 21664 or to Baylake United Methodist Church, 4300 Shore Drive, Virginia Beach VA 23455.

My heartfelt sympathies go out to the family and friends during this difficult time. I hope that the promise found in 1 Thessalonians 4:14 can bring you some comfort. Knowing that there is a future for the ones we have lost in death can be so reassuring.
