Age 83 of Lewes, DE, passed away on Friday, May 22, 2009, at home, after a courageous fight with a long illness.
Born on October the 11, 1925 in Wilmington, DE, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Margaret (McCullen) and Dennis McCormick. Dorothy was previously employed at the Five Point Lounge in Richardson Park for over 18 years. After retiring Dorothy relocated to Millsboro, DE where she continued to tend bar at the VFW 7447 in Rehoboth Beach. She later tended bar at the American Legion Post 5 in Rehoboth. Dorothy was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary Diamond State Post 2863 for 50 years. She was also a member of the American Legion Post 5 Ladies Auxiliary.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was predeceased by her husband of 36 years, Frank Horsey. Dorothy is survived by her 3 daughters, Marcia Crouchelli of Wilmington, DE, Janet Palese of Bear, DE, and Gayle Dupras of Lewes, DE and her 2 sons, Andrew K. Palese, Jr. and his wife Kathy of Ft. Myers. FL and Robert Palese of Newark, DE. Proud accomplishments are her 9 grandsons and her 10 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staffs of the Dialysis Center of Rehoboth Beach and the Delaware Hospice.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 29, in St. Margaret of Scotland Church , 2431 Frazer Road, Newark DE 19702 at 12:30 pm, where friends are invited to a visitation after 10:30 am. Interment will be in the Delaware Veterans Cemetery, Bear, DE at 2 pm.
In lieu of flowers, family requests contributions to Delaware Hospice, 3515 Silverside Road, Wilmington, DE 19810.
