Age 72, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully at Christiana Hospital on Friday, September 29, 2006, surrounded by family.
Born in Wilmington, Mr. Stearrett was the son of the late Paul H. and Gertrude (Peterson) Stearrett. A true patriot, he served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. For 40 years he was a drywall contractor. He worked as vice president of A&C Corporation, president of State Drywall, and vice president of Central Properties before his retirement in 2004. His memberships included the VFW Post #3257, the Durney Post, the American Legion in Lewes and the Pulaski Legion. An avid fisherman, he was also a member of the Delaware Fishing Alliance.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Stearrett was predeceased by his daughter, Kathleen "Kate" Stearrett; 5 brothers, Paul H., Francis B., John A., William H. and Allan H. Stearrett. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Patricia (O'Neill) Stearrett; his son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth G. and Janice Stearrett; his grandchildren, Lynette and Shane Stearrett; and his sister and brother-in-law, Doreen and James Gaines. Also surviving is his partner and lifelong friend, Gene Radka.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 3rd, between 6-8 pm at MEALEY FUNERAL HOME, Limestone and Milltown Roads, Wilmington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday morning, October 4th, at 10 am at St. Elizabeth Church, Cedar and Clayton Streets, Wilmington. Interment will follow in Cathedral Cemetery, Wilmington.
