I worked with Gwen at the beginnings of the "new" Del Tech urban campus on 4th Street. I have many memories of conversations, meetings, and friendly get -togethers from that time as the campus got under way. We kept in contact even after I had moved from the area. I valued her insight and opinions, her camaraderie and her laugh. I felt I could pick up where we left off, no matter the years that had transpired since our last visit. There was comfort in that familiarity withstanding the passage of time. Now memories abound and rush through my mind. And I see her face as I did when I met her in 1973. I extend my condolences to her immediate and extended family. And for her friends and colleagues like me, I feel so sorry for our loss.

Dr. Sanders was my mentor and encouraged me to go back to school. My success today was inspired by her commitment to see me do well. You will truly be missed and I will continue your legacy by encouraging young sisters to continue their education. God bless the family and know that you are the descendant of a true queen.

Romona, Jocelyn and family, I was saddened to hear of Ms. Gwen's passing. She was the epitome of elegance, sophistication and grace. I recall substantial conversations with Ms. Gwen which always left me feeling enriched. May your family be covered in peace, love and the fondest of memories. Love, Denyonne

Dr. Sanders was my Dean of Students for a number of years while I worked as a counselor at Delaware Tech. She was always fair with all the counselors and ran a tight ship. She was always very pleasant, and I never say her lose her cool with students or her counselors. It was a pleasure to work for her over those years at DTCC. May she rest in peace! Dennis LaFazia
