The Legend passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 4, 2007, at the Christiana Hospital. He is the son of the late Edna Mae (Shavers) Blunt and brother of Carl Shavers (Myrna), 1 niece, Carlina (John) and 1 great-niece, Neisha of Hawaii. Jimmy (JB) was a true friend and mentor. He embraced everyone who came in contact with him. Jimmy was a true prophet of life and lived it to the fullest. He was a member of Calvery Presbyterian Church and sang with the "Spirit Singers." Jimmy was an accomplished soloist. He was the 1996 Jeffereson award recipient for volunteer service with children. He graduated in 1984 from Conrad High School where he was a member of the choir and allstate in shotput. While attending Conrad and after graduation he worked as a cook at the famous Charcoal "Pit." JB was a coach at St. Matthews since 1975 and at St. Edmonds from 2002-2007. He volunteered at Crestmore Pool and countless other sporting events. He coached wrestling, basketball (boys & girls), volleyball, cross country, football, softball and baseball, but his greatest love was track and field. He coached in the CYO league for 35 years. In 1974, Jimmy created JB Express, because he loved music and loved to entertain thousands. He played school dances, weddings and all types of events. His motto was "You name it I will play it." If he didn't have it he would get it. He introduced many young boys to the DJ business who later became professionals. JB's service will be held on Thursday, November 8, at the St. Matthew's Parish located on Maryland Ave. and Boxwood Rd., in Woodcrest. Viewing 2-6:45 pm, only. Service 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations should be sent to The JB Track Program Memorial Fund, St. Edmund's Academy, 2120 Veale Rd., Wilmington, DE 19810; YAC in memory of JB, St. Matthew's Catholic Church, 1 Curtis Ave., Woodcrest, Wilmington, DE 19804; or Crestmore Swim Team in memory of JB, PO Box 3144 Wilm., DE 19804.
