AGE: 58 • Wilmington
James C. McFadden, age 58, of Wilmington DE passed away at his home on Thursday, December 12, 2013.
A proud native of Wilmington, Jim was the son of the late James and Margaret McFadden. He attended Brandywine High School and the University of Delaware. Jim worked in the Industrial Packaging industry for 32 years with Stephen Gould Corp, Robinsville, NJ.
Jim had a wide Irish smile paired with a twinkle in his eyes. His smile and easygoing demeanor made everyone feel welcome and relaxed. He was a great friend to many and made new friends easily. He loved to give parties where he could demonstrate his culinary talents in the kitchen or in front of the grill. Jim enjoyed the Delaware beaches and many water sports. He and Nancy built their beach house in Fenwick Island and cherished their time spent on the waterfront. He was an avid boater and fisherman. Any and all who called him a friend will dearly miss him.
Jim is survived by his wife Nancy J. McFadden (Strickland): sister and brother-in-law Maureen and Michael Monack; niece Nancy Monack; nephews Michael Monack and Kevin Kreider.
A funeral service will be held at Chandler Funeral Home, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803 on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at 11:00 AM. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 9:00 to 11:00 AM. Interment will be private.

As his obit says, Jim was a great friend to many, I among them. Quick story, as many know Jim was a big boater, one of his early ones was a 17 ft Avenger with a 200 hp Merc on the back, green…My first time ever water skiing (circa early 80's I think) was behind this boat with Jim at the helm. The funny part was that when it was finally my turn, there was only one ski in the boat! So I learned to slalom that day after drinking much of the Bohemia River. A great memory as were all of the times spent with him. Lisa and I and our girls, Jean and Emily had the chance to ride with Jim again last summer out of Fenwick. Another great day, a bit harrowing as he would tell the story about Lisa hangin' on in some rough seas and of course Jim driving ?. A fellow Nascar fan and simply a great guy to be around. So remember today and everyday to “pour a little out” and remember Jimmy! We'll miss you man! - Billy

Aunt Nancy I'm so sorry I wish I could be there Uncle Jim was there for our family through thick and thin no matter what he always was giving me knowledge in life. He was an awesome man and a great husband . He will be watching over all of us with his huge smile and I'm sure I'll hear his voice in my head every time I'm about to make a bad decision him correcting me. He will be greatly missed. Jim was a great guy and an amazing friend and neighbor to my parents in Fenwick Island. I will miss talking with him about motorcycles, beer and Pink Floyd. It is unbelievable that he is gone!

I am so very sorry for the loss of your husband and our neighbor here in Fenwick...I look over the canal and loved seeing you guys happy and go lucky on your fishing trips and Jim admiring me as I so took on crabbing and boating myself....I wish I could had known you both a little better but in the short time that I did....he was a great neighbor to all and will always be remembered!
